FRIENDS OF THE OCC LIBRARY
The Friends of the Orange Coast College Library is a non-profit organization whose purpose is "to intensify community awareness and use of the library, to sponsor programs designed to add to the cultural life of the community, to aid in public relations by communicating needs of the community to the library, to raise funds for enlarging the library collection, and to encourage gifts, endowments, and memorials for the library." The Friends have programs, book sales, and other activities throughout the year, distribute a newsletter, and fund an annual scholarship.
DONATIONS
Donations of books and media items are gratefully accepted at the OCC library or in the library bookstore donation bins. A tax receipt is available on request at the time of donation. LIBRARY BOOKSTORE AND GALLERY
The Friends of the Library has a bookstore in the lobby of the OCC library. The store is open during regular library hours. The store is stocked with some of the donations we receive. Prices vary from $.50 to $2.00 depending on the type and age of the item being sold. A full list of the prices are available in the store.

Dave Grant, President Emeritus of Orange Coast College and a member of
the Coast Community College District Board of Trustees, will tell the tale of an unlikely adventure that takes place during a remarkable era when real knowledge of the world’s natural history was just beginning to greatly expand.

Orange Coast College will host the "best of the best" from the annual Banff Mountain Film Festival. The BMFF World Tour features an international selection of films that present a wide range of outdoor adventures and portraits, including climbing, mountain expeditions, remote cultures and the world’s last great wild places. A featured short film will be the Canadian production "Ski Bums Never Die." What does it take to be a ski bum? An unending dedication to powder skiing? The ability to do anything in your ski boots? A lifelong quest for deep snow? Find out with this unusual and inspiring band of skiers in the Kootenay region of British Columbia.

OCC Recycling Center: Past, Present, Future
Time: Tuesday, April 17, at 7:00 p.m.
Location: OCC Library
Admission: $5 or gently used book donation; FOTL members and OCC students with ID free.
Orange Coast College’s recycling guru, Mike Carey, will speak about OCC’s Recycling Center. The Center is the oldest college recycling program in the nation, according to Carey, who has directed operations there for the past 26 years.

Spring 2012 Book Sale
Great Used Books at Incredible Prices! The Friends of the Library will host their Spring Book Sale on Tuesday, April 24th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the library instruction room.
Friends of the Library members are invited to a special pre-sale starting 9:00 a.m. before the event is open to the public. Anyone may join the Friends of the Library prior to the book sale to take advantage of the one hour "pre-sale" exclusive for Friends members.
A variety of books will be available from bestsellers, romance, and mysteries to science, art, history and computers. Most books sell for $1. The sale will culminate with a "dollar-a-bag" sale starting at 2:00 p.m.
Metered parking will be available in Lot E (take Merrimac Way to the southwest corner of campus). Please call (714) 432-0202 x21058 for further details. Free parking permits will be available for FOTL members.
