The purpose of Mu Delta Rho shall be to:
Recognize academic achievements to date and encourage continued pursuit of academic excellence among pre-health two-year college students (studying for careers in medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician assistant, allied health and others); nurture and develop the qualities required to be a good health care practitioner as described in the Hippocratic Oath; encourage members in their pursuit of excellence, knowledge and beneficence.
To achieve this purpose, Mu Delta Rho (MDR) shall provide the opportunity for the development of leadership as well as service to the campus and community; an open intellectual environment in which research, discussion, exchange and fellowship are encouraged in the pursuit of a career in the medical arts; and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.
Membership
There is a one-time membership fee of $35, which includes lifetime membership, OCC transcript notation, eligibility for the Mu Delta Rho scholarship, and other exclusive membership benefits. In addition, you will become eligible to wear the distictive Mu Delta Rho honors regalia upon graduation.
Eligibility Requirements
A minimum GPA of 3.5 among OCC courses completed for the major/certificate
A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
Recognized qualities of character, citizenship and service
Completion of qualifying coursework (see lists below for pre-health and allied
health applicants)
