Preparing For Your Online Class.


Below is a list of helpful steps to ensure that your computer is configured for your online class. There are several presentations that will introduce you to the Blackboard Vista environment. Please take some time to view the presentations.

Check list:

  1. Prepare Your Computer for your online class.
  2. Contact your Instructor.
  3. Determine Your User Name & Password.
  4. Get familiar with your classroom.
  5. FAQ's.

Contacting Technical Support.

If you have implemented all the steps from above, but you are still having technical difficulties, you need to contact Technical Support.

For technical questions and issues, online students MUST submit a Technical Request Form to Online Support. Technical Support Staff will be available to answer your requests Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Don't Lose Your Place in Class!

Online students:  Check in with your instructor via email between Monday and Wednesday of the first week of class. If you do not email your instructor between Monday and Wednesday of the first week, you could lose your space in the class or miss important class work. Once you have completed preparing for your class, go to the 'Starting Your Class' menu item to the left of the website, select your class, and use the email given to contact your instructor.

When Can I start my Class ?

Students are not allowed into their classroom until the first day of the class at 8:00 a.m. If you try to login to Blackboard Vista before that time you will be told that you have entered an invalid ID or password, or you will be denied access from entering the course itself.

While you wait for the class to open, make sure that you are prepared for the class by taking the Blackboard Vista Student Tutorial.

Have You Successfully Petitioned A Class?

If you have successfully petitioned a closed class and completed the Touch-Tone registration, you need to take ONE of the following steps:.

For Blackboard Vista classes:

You MUST register for the course before you can get into the online class.  You should have access to your online class within 24 hours of registering.
