OCC Women's Soccer Coaches | Head Coach Kevin Smith

 Fourth-year head coach Kevin Smith will once again lead the Pirates.
In his first season as the Pirates' skipper, Smith helped guide the Pirates into the third round of the playoffs.
Prior to his arrival at Coast, Smith was a teacher and head boys soccer coach at Cypress High School since 1998.
From 1989-1997, Smith worked at Fountain Valley High School as a resident substitute teacher and was the director of coaching for the boys' varsity soccer program from 1991-97.
In addition to his school coaching, Smith was also the camp director for Beach Cities Sports, a youth soccer camp for boys and girls ages 5-15.
As a player, Smith played the UC Irvine, where he earned All-Big West Conference honors in 1989, 1991 and 1992 and All-Mountain Pacific Conference in 1993.
From there, Smith played professional soccer for the Los Angeles Salsa of the USISL (1995), the Bournmouth Football Club of the Jewson Wessex League in England (1994) and the East L.A. Cobras of the USISL (1993).
Smith has also enjoyed coaching stints with the Olympic Development Program (1992-1993), UC Irvine (1993), the Mission Pateadores Soccer Club (1990-1995) and the Wolfpack Soccer Club (1996-2006).
Smith and his wife, Alyson, currently reside in Huntington Beach.
 Assistant Coach Alyson Smith 5th Season
Alyson Spencer returns to the Coast coaching staff for her fourth season as assistant coach.
Spencer comes to Coast after serving as the girls varsity assistant coach at Corona del Mar High School for the past three years. She helped guide the team to three-straight CIF playoff appearances and two second-place finishes in the Pacific Coast League.
In addition, Spencer coaches the girls U-11 team for the Corona del Mar Soccer Club. She has also been active in coaching youth camps and has coached at the Mr. Soccer Youth Camps from 2002-05.
Spencer played collegiately at nearby UC Irvine where she was a scholar-athlete and served as team captain for two years. As a junior, Spencer was a first team all-Big West honoree, named Defensive MVP of the UC Irvine Nike Holiday Inn Festival and named to the Montana Diadora Cup all-tournament team. She was also a two-time team MVP.
Prior to her collegiate career, Spencer played her prep soccer at Chaparral High in Temecula, where she was a four-year letterwinner. She received second team all-league and all-Valley honors as a freshman, then received first-team honors her remaining three prep seasons.
As a junior, Spencer was named second team all-CIF. As a senior, she was named the Valley Player of the Year, Southwestern League MVP, first team all-CIF and the Chaparral Senior Female Athlete of the Year.
Spencer played club soccer for the San Diego Surf Soccer Club, where her team won three state championships, two regional titles and made two national championship game appearances with one crown.
A recent graduate of UC Irvine, Spencer obtained her bachelor's degree in social science and a minor in educational studies. Alyson is recently married to head coach Kevin Smith and the couple resides in Huntington Beach.
