The Department of Speech Communication at Orange Coast College is a comprehensive program with offerings ranging from traditional rhetoric and public speaking to modern communication studies.

The department has several long-standing traditions:

• Individualized, face-to-face instruction, honoring the needs of students with support and encouragement.
• Our decades-long history of national success in speech & debate competition, including six state and seven national championships.
• Special concern with building teachers for the future.   Many speech & debate programs in California and around the country boast former students and associates of our team as their coaches.
• Committed involvement in campus-wide issues.
