OCC Professional Flight Program
Flight schools southern california flight training
Welcome to Aviation Pilot Training.. Our goal is to provide students with high quality, professionally oriented preparation for careers as commercial pilots. The entire process will take you 12-24 months. In that time we will take you step by step through the academic preparation necessary to enter the work force as a commercial pilot.
The road to becoming a pilot starts with earning certificates and ratings. The curriculum at OCC is designed to guide you through this process. The first certificate a pilot earns is Private pilot. After the requesite amount of experience is attained you then apply and test for a Commercial pilot certificate. Along the way a rating to fly in the weather (called and Instrument rating) is added. In addition, most people will also add a multi-engine rating shortly after getting their commercial certificate. At this point you are now licensed to fly multi-engine aircraft for pay.
There are three parts to each certificate and rating. You must pass a written examination, a practical (in flight) examination and an oral examination which is given coincident with the in flight exam. Our courses are designed to prepare you for all three phases. For instance in our Private Pilot course you will be taught everything you need to know to pass the written exam in addition to being given the background information necessary to succeed in your flight lessons.
In addition to classroom instruction OCC has a wonderful flight simulator program. Simulator courses are available. Some of the flight time requirements for the Instrument and Commercial ratings can be met through our Flight Simulator lab.
It is a great time to be entering the flying profession. As the larger airlines consolidate more and more routes have shifted to what used to be called "regional carriers." These airlines are now the dominate airlines in our country. This is good news because they are traditionally the entry level airlines for pilots. The pay and schedules are good and as these airlines expand even more jobs will become available. Many pilots opt to make a career at these airlines. Some however move on to fly bigger equipment. In addition many other entities hire pilots. Stay and local government, the federal government, law enforcement, wild life management and land management agencies all need pilots. In addition large corporations either operate or contract for the use of business aircraft.
Even if your goal is not to be a commercial pilot our program has a lot to offer. If you just want to fly for fun and personal pleasure our ground school classes for Private Pilot satisfy all FAA requirements for written test preparation. If an Instrument rating is your goal we offer the academic preparation for the FAA written exam along with access to certified simulators which may be used to gain practical experience.
