BOOK DRIVES FOR BETTER LIVES:
in partnership with BetterWorld Books
This year (2009-2010), we are supporting:

-
National Center for Family Literacy (United States) - NCFL believes that parents and children benefit from learning together, and that improved literacy leads to the resolution of social problems and poverty.
Congratulations Jimmy Vierheller and the
2008-09 Book Drive Committee!
BetterWorld Books announced this summer that our Beta Mu Alpha chapter
RANKED FIRST IN THE U.S.A. among all PTK chapters participating in the Fall 2008/Spring 2009 "Book Drives for Better Lives." Over the course of six months, we collected over 10,000 books, of which nearly 4,000 qualified to help support poverty relief and literacy efforts in Latin America thorugh Worldfund!
The sale of these books online will generate enough funding to hire a teacher for one year, and outfit a classroom for thirty students.
We estimate that over two tons of used books has been kept in circulation and away from landfills due to members' efforts.
BetterWorld Books rewarded our chapter with over $3,000.00, which has been designated as service scholarships for our most active chapter members.
Yes, you CAN make a difference in the world!
The 2009/2010 book drive is about to launch.
