Rabbit Island

On November, 2002 Orange Coast College was donated a 36 acre island (Rabbit Island) by Mr. Henry Wheeler. Rabbit Island is located off the central east coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Rabbit Island has a large lodge already built on it, with a kitchen, dining room, a large living room, bed rooms, and bathroom.  In addition, there are four large cabins  with additional sleeping facilities. The island comes equipped with its own solar electrical generation system, water desalination/purification system, sewage treatment facility, docks, storage shed, and trails.  Plans are now being made at Orange Coast College for how the island will be used in the future and what types of college activities may occur there!

Description of the Pubic Aquarium
Initially constructed with the construction of the Lewis Center for Applied Sciences Building in 1967, the Public Aquarium has gone through many transformations over the past 34 years. Since its inception, the Public Aquarium has been a training and educational facility for undergraduate marine science students.  A one unit class, Marine Science 120 offers students the opportunity to earn college credit as they study the science of marine aquariumology.
