Head Coach Ruby Rojas
2nd Season


Head Coach Ruby Rojas is in her second season as head coach of the Orange Coast College softball program.

Born in Maracay, Venezuela, Rojas attended Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana where she helped lead Mater Dei to the Division I CIF State Championships in 1996 and 1998. She earned a bachelor's degree at the University of Virginia in Sociology / Women Studies, and went on to earn her Masters at Long Beach State in Sports Management.

Rojas played 4 years at third base for UVA, earning ACC Rookie of the Year in 2001, NFCA 1st Team All ACC in 2001, 2002, and 2003, Highest Batting Average in ACC (.401) in 2001, 1st Team All ACC 50th Anniversary Team and UVA MVP honors in 2003.

Her Venezuelan National Team placed 1st at the ISF Central American & Caribbean Games in 2002, 1st at the ISF Bolivian Games in 2002, and 2nd at the Italian Invitational in Milan in 2003. 

In 2008, Rojas will represent her native country in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China as a member of the Venezuelan National Softball Team.

In addition to qualifying for the Olympics, Rojas and her teammates earned the silver medal at the 2007 Pan-American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
