On behalf of the 15 fulltime teachers and coaches, 37 part-time, adjunct teachers and coaches, and 10 classified staff members, let me welcome you to the Orange Coast College Physical Education and Athletics Division.
Orange Coast College offers a wide range of Physical Education classes, ranging from Eastern movement forms to water activities. You will find a complete breakdown of course offerings under the link to the left titled, "Physical Education." We believe in activity for everyone, and we want students to explore the possibilities and find an activity they enjoy. Our goal is to provide learning opportunities that will encourage our students to choose a life time of activity. This will promote lifelong wellness and an improved quality of life.
Orange Coast College boasts one of the finest community college athletic programs in the nation, having won more than 70 state and national championships and a host of conference titles. The Coast program also dominates on a local level, having captured the Orange Empire Conference Sport Supremacy Award a record 23 times. Established back in 1948 by founding father Wendell Pickens, the Coast name has come to personify excellence both on the field and in the classroom. A total of 108 student-athletes accounting for 41% of the 263 total athletes were named to the Honor Roll during the 2004 Spring semester.
