WAFC  RETAIL  MANAGEMENT

The Western Association of Food Chains, Inc., is a non-profit organization comprised of the top officials of the food industry that represents retailer food sales of approximately 100 billion dollars per year in the Western United States.

Upon Completion of all courses in the WAFC Retail Management Certificate Program, students should be able to:
  • Identify concepts and theories of management, including the planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling functions.
  • Explain the complexities of management principles and theories
  • Develop and defend a personal philosophy of management.
  • Demonstrate the technical skills for keeping business records and preparing financial statements.
  • Participate in interpersonal and small group communications in a business setting.
  • Orally communicate management decisions to members of a group and be able to defend those alternatives
  • Objectively evaluate situations that call for management decisions and predict the outcomes of various alternatives.

ASSOCIATE DEGREE
Complete Certificate of Achievement and Graduation Requirements as outlined in the Graduation Requirements section of the catalog.

Note: All courses must be completed with a grade of ‘C’ or better.

OCC: To apply for a Certificate of Achievement in Retail Management from Orange Coast College go to the Graduation Office and pick up an application. 

To receive your AA degree, complete Certificate of Achievement and Graduation Requirements as outlined in the Graduation Requirements section of the catalog.

WAFC: After completing all required courses:

  • Obtain an Application for WAFC Retail Management Certificate/Honorarium form from your employer’s Human Resources Dept. 

  • Applicants must complete the form with the following attachments: copies of college transcripts for all courses completed for the program; all appropriate receipts.

  • Forward the entire application packet back to the Human Resources Dept. for review and approval. 

  • The HR office will forward approved applications to the WAFC.
