OCC Honor Society for Social and Behavioral Sciences

Phi Alpha Mu, the Orange Coast College Honor Society for Social and Behavioral Sciences, is open to students with qualifying GPA's and coursework in the social and behavioral sciences.*
Phi Alpha Mu is now accepting Fall 2009 applications.
Click here for a downloadable application. There are no dues or membership fees at this time. The deadline is October 9, 2009. Turn in the completed application with a copy of your unofficial OCC transcript to Dr. Jessica Alabi's faculty mailbox in the Administration Bldg. Highlight all social and behavioral sciences courses.*
Freshman applicants (those who have completed no more than 30 units of coursework) must have earned a GPA of 3.50 in at least nine (9) units of OCC coursework in the social and behavioral sciences, and must have earned an overall GPA of at least 3.0.
Sophomore applicants (those who have completed more than 30 units of coursework) must have earned a GPA of 3.50 in at least twelve (12) units of OCC coursework in the social and behavioral sciences, and must have earned an overall GPA of at least 3.0.
Approved membership is permanent immediately, earning the student a special notation on official OCC transcripts. Members also receive a membership certificate and are eligible to purchase and wear honors regalia at graduation.
* The social and behavioral sciences include: Anthropology, Economics, Ethics, Ethnic Studies, Gender Studies, Geography, History, Humanities, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Religious Studies, and Sociology.
