Special Announcment for EOPS Students
First, the bad news:
While in the recent past, OCC EOPS students' membership dues for the various honor societies were covered by the EOPS office, because of the ongoing California budget crisis, this practice has been suspended for at least the 2009-2010 academic year.
And now, the good news:
Several of the honor societies may be offering alternatives to paying chapter and parent organization dues to help mitigate the payment problem many of our potential new members may be facing and which might otherwise prevent qualified students from joining these prestigious honors organizations. Phi Theta Kappa, for example, has recently voted to allow students who cannot pay the $100, one-time dues an opportunity to do fundraising for the chapter, a portion of which will be used to pay that applicant's dues. Check the PTK web page (left) for more details about this.
