Rabbit Island is an island in British Columbia, Canada (near Vancouver) that was donated to the Orange Coast College Foundation in late 2001, and then sold by the OCC Foundation in 2008. The biology department ran mutliple summer courses on the island, most of which involved student directed long-term research projects relating to the organisms found on the island. Faculty in the department were also awarded an NSF Field Station and Marine Lab planning grant in early 2007, but were unable to startwork on the grant due decision to sell the island.
