Paul Prioleau - Head Coach
Paul Prioleau has been named as the Head Coach for the OCC program, following a successful stint as the Assistant Coach for the 2010-11 season. Prioleau comes to Coast with ten years of competitive rowing and six years of coaching experience. His background is varied, having rowed in high school, on the National and Olympic teams and in both sweep and sculling boats.
In high school, he rowed for Shawnigan Lake School, Canada. While there he was team captain, MVP, and won the National Championships. He went on to U.C. Berkeley (Cal) where he was team captain, MVP, and won a Pac-10 championship. After college, he was selected as a member of the US National Team that competed at the 1979 World Championships in Bled, Slovenia. In 1980 he was named to the US Olympic Team, rowing in Lucerne, Amsterdam, and Henley. Ultimately the U.S. boycott of those games kept the team from continuing on to Moscow. In 1984, he coached the Freshman crew at UC Berkeley to three successful seasons. He returned to coaching part time in 2003, coaching the Newport Aquatic Center Junior Crew for two years before joining the Coast Crew staff.
Prioleau has deep ties to the OCC program. His son, Will rowed for Coast from 2006-08. He rowed with Coast transfer students as teammates at Cal and even met his wife on the (now extinct) boathouse lawn when she was on the Coast crew. He is looking forward to continuing the traditions and disciplines of the program, focusing on providing a rich experience that will ignite the student’s rowing and academic careers.
Pat Gleason - Freshman / Novice Coach
Pat is a Coast Alum, who started his rowing career on the '81 and '82 crews. He later transferred to Washington for the '83 and '84 seasons, where he won a National Championships in 1984. He came back and coached the Coast Varsity for a year in '86 when Dave Grant took a sabbatical, and then spent many years training and competing as an international level triathlete, competing in two Ironman competitions in Hawaii and winning a US National Sprint Triathlon Championship title. In 2002, he returned to Coast to coach the freshman teams, and won multiple WIRA Championships, and two ECAC National Championship titles over the next seven years.
Pat's deep knowledge of physical training techniques, combined with his experience in the unique challenges of the Coast program is a huge asset to the team.
Robi Dalrymple - Boatman
Robbie is an invaluable resource to the crew, he shares his great and varied knowledge with both rowing programs at Coast.
