The Biology Department offers a number of courses aimed primarily at students who don't have much of a science background and are looking for a short introduction to the basics of biology.
Our signature course for non-majors is Biology 100 (Principles of Biology), which includes 3 hours of lecture and 3 hours of lab a week. Biology 100 surveys the current state of biology, covering everything from the functioning of biological molecules to how ecosystems work and how life evolved.
Other courses for non-majors include The Biology of Drugs (Biology 140), Biology of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (Biology 160), Basic Microbiology (Biology 114), and Human Biology (Biology 125).
For more information on which course is right for you, talk to one of Orange Coast College’s academic counselors, consult the college catalog, or contact an instructor that is currently teaching the course you're interested in taking.
