Program Coordinator Welcome                                                            
The School of Hospitality, Travel, & Tourism's mission is to create and disseminate knowledge regarding skills, opportunities, and employment within the Southern California hospitality industry.  In pursuit of that mission, the School's faculty are dedicated to excellence in teaching, research and service.

We are committed to combining theory-based education and practical application of skills and abilities, along with industry sponsored internships, to meet the ever-changing needs of industry.  Upon successful completion of specific career courses, students may elect to apply for skill certification through Orange Coast College in association with the American Hotel & Lodging Association.

The hospitality, travel, & tourism industries are projected to have a deficit employment pool from which to choose personnel and qualified management candidates well into the new millennium.  With our commitment to the local hospitality industry, this ensures our graduates of not only a first class education but also first careers.

Students may choose to complete individual courses, certification in one or more areas of specialization, an Associate of Science Degree, or concentrate on personal development.  All courses and certificates are designed to increase an individuals potential for success.  Our students are introduced to the diversified knowledge required and expertise needed in the employment and or management within these diverse industries.

AIRLINE TRAVEL CAREERS
Have you ever wondered about playing a significant role in a highly competitive customer service career including flight attendant in the airline and travel industry?  If so, this program is for you.  Students with advanced standing are chosen to complete and internship with Delta Airlines at John Wayne Airport.
 

HOTEL MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
           
Whether you are a novice or currently employed in the hotel industry, this program can strengthen your opportunity for success within the fastest growing industry in Southern California and the world.  Critical focus is placed on acquiring the highest level service competencies needed for luxury brand delivery.

MEETING/EVENT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM 
With you in mind, these classes are designed to offer beginning as well as experienced meeting and event professionals theory leading to a world of opportunities. The program ensures that you are prepared for the changes occurring within this complex and competitive industry. This is a comprehensive professional development program leading to certification as a Meeting/Event Professional. 

SPA MANAGEMENT
Whether you are new to the field, currently employed, eager to own or manage, or currently a Spa Director, this program is for you.  You will be exposed to the latest spa types, trends in marketing, successful financial management of the bottom line, and techniques leading to excellence in customer engagement. 

TRAVEL & TOURISM
Travel professionals provide clients with dream vacations instead of the travel nightmares that likely occur by booking travel via the Internet. In this program, you will learn about travel resources that are NOT available to the general public and learn how to assess clients’ needs and match them with products, services and destinations that will assure a pleasurable travel experience at the best value.

EXECUTIVE AND PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION
Together with Chapman University, Extended Education Department, we deliver "Leadership NOW in Hospitality" programs, geared to creating professional managers, entrepreneurs and leaders in the hospitality industry.  This speaker series, represents state of the art in management education by preparing individuals to be theory-based, action-oriented leaders who effectively manage employees, meetings, events, and executive teams.  The hospitality industry's sought-after executive courses and Professional Development Programs draw hospitality professionals to the Orange Coast College campus to pursue skill upgrades and certification in a wide array of specialties.  Leaders are encouraged to participate in the Advanced Management Program. We are constantly searching for opportunities to create custom-designed programs for local companies and individuals.

INDUSTRY ADVISORY CONSULTANTS
An on-going partnership between the School of Hospitality, Travel, & Tourism and the hospitality industry, fosters creation of "new" knowledge by bringing faculty together with sponsoring firms to define, conduct and disseminate research, education, and training on concerns of timely importance to the students, college and industry.

CAREER SERVICES
The School of Hospitality, Travel, & Tourism devotes careful attention to matching its graduates with firms in search of executive talent.  The proof of those efforts is registered in the success of graduates' job searches, compensation packages, and in the subsequent progress of their careers and prosperity of their companies.  Representatives of more than 110 Orange County's leading employers attended this year's CAREER FAIR.
