OCC Athletics - 60 years of championship tradition

With nearly six decades of history, the championship tradition of OCC athletics has been etched by the athletes of the past and carried on by the athletes of the future.

Coast has won the Orange Empire Conference Sports Supremacy Award 24 times over the past 28 years. That trophy is emblematic of the conference's top overall men's and women's athletic program.

It's a rich athletic history that began with the first-ever OCC Athlete of the Year (Kenny Moats, baseball/football) and has carried over to this day.
OCC's championship run began in 1956 when the Pirate baseball team topped'em all en route to a state crown.

Since then, 91 state and national champions have been crowned - more than any community college in the state. In 2006, the women's cross country team captured its fifth consecutive state crown, while the women's volleyball team made it back-to-back state championships. In 2007, the men's swimming team made it two straight state titles, helping the Pirates earn this year's Pepsi/NATYCAA Cup for athletic excellence throughout the 2006-07 school year.

As Orange Coast College heads into its seventh decade, the Pirate athletic program is bigger and better than it's ever been.

All it needs are student-athletes willing to put in the hard work, dedication and effort needed to be a champion, both on the athletic fields and off.
