With over 50 years of rich tradition, the Orange Coast College swim program has continued the pace set by teams of generations past.

Coaches Don Watson and Anthony Iacopetti have helped prepare several student-athletes for the four-year collegiate level, while at the same time, generating a high standard for the entire team.

This past season, the Pirate men dominated the competition en route to the 2009 State Championship, led by freshman standout Rakiya Yano and his five state records (seven school records) achieved in '09.

That high standard was raised to a whole new level in 2006 as the men's and women's swim teams captured state titles.

It was the first men's state swim title since 1994 and the first women's swim crown since 2003.

Of the 94 state championships won by OCC in the school's history, 19 have come from the men's and women's swim programs.
