Description of job for which program prepares students
The School Health Assistant provides services to children in the educational system under the supervision of the School Administration and the School Nurse. They perform a number of duties including health related services, clerical duties, documentation and maintenance of facilities, and facilitating activities to improve and promote optimal student health. Health Assistants asses illness conditions, provide first aid, administer medications, review immunization compliance, and maintain student health records. The outcome from this program will be to provide the community with trained personnel in an area of increasing demand. The program is designed to meet the needs of entry-level School Health Clerk in the educational setting.
