I applied for a "transferring" scholarship but have decided to stay at OCC. Will I still receive my scholarship?
OR
I applied for a "continuing" scholarship but have  decided to transfer.  Will I still receive my scholarship?

In both cases, you must contact the Scholarship Office for approval to receive your scholarships. You may or may not receive the awards or they may be delayed, depending on the donor's wishes. The Scholarship Office will contact your donor regarding this matter. Normally it takes about two weeks for a decision to be made.

I received a transferring scholarship last year. Can I receive another this year?

No, you will not be able to apply again. The scholarship program is designed to encourage students to continue with their education. Once you are eligible to transfer, it is important that you do so.

My grades have fallen. Will I get my scholarship?

If your grades fall below the standards published in the scholarship application, you must make up the deficit during the Summer. If you receive a "D" or "F" in a class, you must repeat that class.

Specific details will be mailed to you as soon as they are available but by the time the Scholarship Office has enough information to send to you, it may be too late to enroll in summer classes. If you believe that you will need to make up a deficit, enroll in appropriate courses before receiving your letter.

Because of extenuating circumstances, I feel that the rules described here should not apply to me. Do I have any options?

"Extenuating Circumstances" are defined as something beyond your control. Under this definition, if you believe that a Scholarship Program requirement or rule should be waived, you may write a letter of appeal.

Address the letter to Nancy Timmons, Scholarship Program Coordinator, stating what rule you wish to have waived, what circumstances indicate that you should be treated differently than other students, and what relief you desire.

The OCC Scholarship Selection Committee will review your request and make a determination, normally within two weeks. This decision is final. Note that all policies regarding the OCC Scholarship Program are established by the Scholarship Selection Committee which includes faculty, staff, student, administrators, and alumni representatives.
