Fall 2009 Activities Calendar
Announcing our upcoming September activities. . .
1. Story Telling Luncheon with Dr. Karimi on Tuesday, September 22nd from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. - Do you ever feel homesick or experience culture shock? Come and have lunch with Dr. Karimi and some other international students to discuss issues that are important to you and learn from the discussions. Dr. Karimi was a former international student; she appreciates and understands the challenges that you might face when adjusting to a new culture. The International Center will provide lunch for this gathering. Due to space limitations, this gathering is open to 20 international students. Please reserve your seat by Tuesday morning, September 22nd. We will need a confirmation to order lunch. We would love to hear ‘Your Story’ – so, please join us!
2. International Center Open House – The International Center will be hosting an Open House to welcome all new, returning, and continuing students to our Fall 2009. The Open House will be on Thursday, September 24th, 2009 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Please stop by our office to meet other students and our friendly staff. There will be free refreshments. So, stop by, take a look around or just to say “Hi!”
3. Movie Night –The International Center is planning a fun evening at the Movies for Friday for Friday, Sept. 25th. The International Center has purchased a limited number of tickets and will sponsor this activity. Here is your chance to see a free movie with your fellow students and meet new friends. Tickets are available to the first 20 students who sign up. Sign-up sheet is available at the International Center. Please come to the International Center and sign-up in person.
4. International/Cultural Room - Starting Monday, October 5, the International Center would like to invite you to stop by the International Center Orientation Room to learn about the services provided by the International Center and to meet other students and staff. The Orientation Room (Cultural Lounge) intends to be open during the following hours; all students, faculty, and staff are welcome to stop by to meet others and obtain information about other countries and cultures. Our Cultural Lounge hours will be every:
Monday 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Wednesday 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm.
FREE refreshments will be provided. Stop by and grab a cup of coffee or a cookie and find out about club meetings and other upcoming activities. This is a great way to stay connected with the International Center.
5. Second 8-Week Courses – Course are still available for second 8-week. You can register for the second 8-week courses through MyOCC. If you are still looking to add more units, please logon to MyOCC to check for courses availability and register for your courses. Second 8-week will start on October 26 - December 20.
