Application Deadline

There are two different application deadlines for international students. The application deadline for students who apply from abroad is typically two months prior to the start of the semester in which they plan to attend. For international students who are currently in the U.S. and are planning to transfer, the application deadline is typically 3 weeks prior to the start of the semester in which they plan to attend. Following are the application deadlines for the upcoming Summer 2012 and Fall 2012 semesters:

Summer 2012
New student applying from abroad: April 20, 2012
Transfer students:  May 11, 2012



Fall 2012
New student applying from abroad: July 13, 2012
Transfer students:  August 3, 2012



OCC accepts applications from new international students for the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters.
 
OCC divides its academic year into three (3) semesters:

Fall:  Late August through mid December

Spring:  Late January through mid May

Summer:  Early June through early August

The exact dates vary each year. Please consult the current issue of OCC's catalog for more specific information.

Admissions Checklist

This is a checklist to facilitate your gathering of all the documentation required for admission to Orange Coast College.  All of the following items must be submitted before your file can be reviewed for admission to the college.

Complete Application

Please fill out the international student application (please do NOT submit the regular online application). You can type in the attached form (international student application) electronically, print it out and mail to:

Applications must be completely filled out and submitted prior to the application deadline.

Written Statement

Submit a written statement (1-2 pages) entitled, "Why I Want to Attend Orange Coast College." Discuss the reasons for your interest in attending OCC, and include your educational and personal goals.



Confidential Financial Support Information

The form must be completed and signed by your financial sponsor (self, parent, relative or friend) and certified by the appropriate financial institution.  If the financial institution cannot complete our form, we will accept an official bank statement or letter in its place.  Please note that the bank statement cannot be older than 5 months from the date you complete your file.

Individuals with U.S. sponsors must complete a Form I-134 (affidavit of support).

English Requirements

TOEFL: A minimum score (no more than 2 years old) of 500 on the written version or 61 on the internet-based version

OR

IELTS: A minimum score of 5.5

OCC English Assessment Test (Available only to students who are currently in the U.S. under F-1 status): A passing score; placement in ESL 131/135 or higher 

OR

English Language Programs: Completion of the appropriate level in one of the English Language Programs with which OCC has an agreement.

OR

STEP EIKEN: Grade Pre-First Level

OR

iTEPA minimum score of 5


Official High School Transcripts & Diploma

Official transcripts from your high school (proof of graduation is required) and any ESL program, college or university you have attended, demonstrating successful academic performance.  Transcripts must be official and translated into English.



Application Fee

Submit a non-refundable processing service fee of $30.00.  We accept check, money order, or credit card (MasterCard or Visa)  Please make checks payable to Orange Coast College in United States currency. If you submit a Credit Card Authorization Form, please submit in person, or fax that to the International Center. For security reasons, we will not accept scanned (via email) version of this Form.

Immigration-related Documents

If you are applying from within the United States, you must submit copies of the visa and information pages from your passport along with a copy of your I-94.  Please note that your passport must be valid for at least 6 months into the future. If you are a transfer student we also need a copy of your Form I-20 AB and a completed Transfer Evaluation Form. If you are applying from abroad, please submit a copy of your passport (if available when applying).
