                    DISTINGUISED SPEAKER SERIES

Overview
The Orange Coast College Foundation provides funding for two Distinguished Speaker Series grants annually, worth $7,500 each. Visiting Scholars Grants are designed to contribute to a true teaching and learning community on the Orange Coast College campus. Faculty may submit grant applications to support the costs of creating a day devoted to a topic of interest to the college community. This day will include a keynote speech or activity presented by a Distinguished Speaker with personal or professional interest in the topic.

Grant Goals
·To develop a teaching/learning community on the OCC campus
·To address the learning needs of a changing student body
·To sustain a culture of teaching/learning excellence

Financial Support
·Total amount of support: $15,000 a year
·Two competitive Grants: $7,500 each

Selection Criteria
Faculty submit a proposal for an on-site conference which addresses a topic of interest to the college community. This on-site conference will include minimally:
·A Distinguished Speaker
·Inclusion of both new and seasoned faculty
·Appeal to students, staff, faculty and the larger community
