Staff Development coordinates this program with the Academic Senate. The Committee is primarily responsible for selecting the Full-Time Faculty, Part-Time Faculty, and Staff Member of the Year. It is also involved in the nominations for the Hayward Award and the AACC David R. Pierce Technology Award. Voting for Faculty and Staff Members of the Year takes place in the fall and the celebration is held in the spring. Students are encouraged to join in the nominating process.

Hayward Award
This award honor community college faculty members who demonstrate the highest level of commitment to their students, college, and profession. Recipients are nominated by their local peers and selected as winners by representatives of the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges. In addition to excellence in teaching, they must have a record of outstanding performance in professional activities, as well as a record of active participation on campus.
