PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS
ServSafe Alcohol
Instructor: Ryan Giffen
This course is designed to prepare and certify participants who have alcohol responsibilities within their establishments. Four major areas are addressed: Alcohol Law; Recognizing and Preventing Intoxication; Checking Identification; Handling Difficult Situations at Your Establishment. After 3.5 hours of instruction, participants will have 30 minutes to complete a 40-question exam. Upon passing the exam at 70% or higher, students will be considered “Certified” with a certification card valid for 3 years provided as evidence in meeting the National Restaurant Associations requirements.

Ryan Giffen has over 10 years experience in the Restaurant/ Hotel Industry. Currently, Ryan works for Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants as a Regional Human Resources Manager. In addition, he serves as an Instructor in the Hospitality, Travel and Tourism program at Orange Coast College. Ryan is an Approved ServSafe Alcohol Instructor and Proctor through the National Restaurant Association.
Bodyguard Close Protection Agent Certification
Instructor: Sal Hanna
This course will teach Executive Bodyguard Tactics for Security and private sector law enforcement personnel. It’s designed for security guards, private investigators, bail enforcement agents (bounty hunters), and others in private sector law enforcement. Students who enroll in this course will learn arrest techniques which include: handcuffing, restraining a subject, use of force and powers of arrest. Students will also learn how to utilize their observations to diffuse escalating situations, tactical response encounter scenarios and threat assessment planning.
Note: Students will receive a Demonstrated Proficiency Certificate from Vela Investigations, a Private Investigation Agency Licensed by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. Students should come to class prepared for hands on training of the techniques that will be demonstrated, as well as, classroom instruction.
