Transfer Courses

Development of A & P and functions of speech, hearing, and swallowing.

Speech/Language Path Assist A120- Admin Procedures (2)
Organizational and functional skills required in the speech pathology workplace.

Speech/Language Path Assist A140- Intro to Comm Disorders (3)
Study of communication disorders in children and adults. PREREQUISITE: Speech-Language Pathology Assistant A115

Speech/Language Path Assist A150- Intro to Phonetics (3)
An introduction to phonetics, including analysis, description, production, International Phonetic Alphabet, fine phonetic transcription, and dialects. COREQUISITE: Speech-Language Pathology Assistant A140

Speech/Language Path Assist A160- Clinical 1 (0.5)
Beginning clinical observation of practices and procedures required in speech-language pathology. Offered on a pass-no pass basis only. COREQUISITE: Early Childhood A165

Speech/Language Path Assist A180- Screen & Therapeutics (3)
Screening procedures and equipment used in evaluation of client status and development of treatment protocols. Therapeutic techniques, use of protocol forms, checklists and anecdotal records for speech, hearing, and language disorders. This course includes therapeutic procedures used in client protocol applications and in patient safety issues. PREREQUISITE: Speech-Language Pathology Assistant A140. Transfer Credit: CSU.

Speech/Language Path Assist A190- Clinical 2 (2)
Application of clinical practice procedures and techniques as required of a speech-language pathology assistant. Offered on a pass-no pass basis only. PREREQUISITE: Speech-Language Pathology Assistant A160. COREQUISITE: Speech-Language Pathology Assistant A180

Speech/Language Path Assist A200- Adult & Geriatric Dis (2)
Therapeutic techniques and assessment directed at adult and geriatric conditions.

Speech/Language Path Assist A250- Clinical 3 (4)
Advanced application of clinical practice procedures and therapeutic techniques performed under the guidance of a speech pathologist. Client observation, treatment protocols, record keeping procedures, and discussion of case study management issues are also covered. PREREQUISTE: Speech-Language Pathology Assistant A180 and A190. Transfer Credit: CSU.
