Transfer Courses

All courses numbered 100 or higher are transferable to the California State Universities (CSU). Courses that are transferable to the University of California are designated 'UC.' Some of these courses have limits on the amount of credit that is granted. See the UC Transferable Course List available in the Counseling Center or Transfer Center for these limitations. Courses that are non-credit or not AA degree applicable are designated with the letter 'N' preceding the course number. Identification of courses that have been accepted into the California Articulation Number (CAN) system appears after the course title.

SOCIOLOGY

Sociology A105- Nonverbal Behavior (3)
An analysis of nonverbal behavior in human interaction. Same as Anthropology A105. Students completing Sociology 105 may not receive credit for Anthropology A105. May be taken for grades or on a pass-no pass basis. Transfer Credit: CSU.

Sociology A110- Intro Marriage & Family (3)
The family, its structures and functions. Emphasis on the sociological theory and research on marriage, kinship systems, components of mate selection, intimate relationships, and child-rearing practices. The family is examined in historical perspective and in relation to social change. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC.

Sociology A150- Multicultural Behavior (3)
Multicultural approaches to cultural diversity including immigration policy, affirmative action, and bilingual debates. Intercultural comparisons of various ethnic traditions. Social science theories and methodologies for development of positive intercultural relationships. Same as Anthropology A150. Students completing Sociology A150 may not receive credit for Anthropology A150. May be taken for grades or on a pass-no pass basis. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC.

Sociology A165- Intro Human Sexuality 1 (3)
Interdisciplinary approach to psychological, social and physiological aspects of sexuality. Same as Psychology A165. Students completing Sociology A165 may not receive credit for Psychology A165. May be taken for grades or on a pass-no pass basis. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC.

Sociology A175- Human Sexuality 2 (3)
An advanced course on human sexuality in which the social-psychological factors that affect sexual behavior will be explored. This course will examine the extent to which knowledge, preferences, lifestyle, awareness, and education affect sexuality. Same as Psychology A175. Students completing Sociology A175 may not receive credit for Psychology A175. May be taken for grades or on a pass-no pass basis. PREREQUISITE: Psychology A165 or Sociology A165. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC.

Sociology A180- Introductory Sociology (3)
The study of social interrelationships and human group organization. Attention is given to the foundations of society, culture, group organization, social differentiation, and the methods of sociological study. Emphasis is on American social institutions. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC.

Sociology A180H- Honors Introductory Soc (3)
The study of social interrelationships and human group organization. Attention is given to the foundations of society, culture, group organization, social differentiation, and the methods of sociological study. Emphasis is on American social institutions. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC.

Sociology A185- Analysis Soc Problems (3)
An analysis of contemporary social problems. Topics include global ecology, political economy, sexual behavior, drug use, racism, sexism, ageism, education, environment, health issues, crime, and violence. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC.

Sociology A185H- Honors Analys Soc Probm (3)
An analysis of contemporary social problems. Topics include global ecology, political economy, sexual behavior, drug use, racism, sexism, ageism, education, environment, health issues, crime, and violence. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC.

Sociology A190- The Ethnic Family (3)
Ethnic and minority families in the United States today. Emphasis on family interaction, child training patterns, the family's relationship to society and community-helping agencies. Same as Ethnic Studies A190. Students completing Sociology A190 may not receive credit for Ethnic Studies A190. May be taken for grades or on a pass-no pass basis. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC.
