Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration

Transfer Courses

All courses numbered 100 or higher are transferable to the California State Universities (CSU). Courses that are transferable to the University of California are designated 'UC.' Some of these courses have limits on the amount of credit that is granted. See the UC Transferable Course List available in the Counseling Center or Transfer Center for these limitations. Courses that are non-credit or not AA degree applicable are designated with the letter 'N' preceding the course number. HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING

Heating & Air Conditioning A100- Air Cond/Refrigeratn Princpl (3)
Course covers heat principles, heat loads, refrigeration cycle, system components, refrigerant properties, system operation, soldering and oxy-acetylene brazing. This course may be taken two times. Transfer Credit: CSU.

Heating & Air Conditioning A101- Basic Electrical for HVAC-R (3)
Basic electrical theory & application. Students will build a variety of series and parallel circuits using switches, contactors, relays, thermostats, transformers and other controls used in the HVAC-R field in addition to using miscellaneous electrical components. This course may be taken two times. ADVISORY: Heating and A/C A100. Transfer Credit: CSU.

Heating & Air Conditioning A102- Refrigeration Service (3)
Operation, Maintenance, Troubleshooting and repair of Commercial refrigeration systems. This course may be taken two times. Theory, operation, maintenance and trouble-shooting of absorption system. PREREQUISITE: Heating and A/C A100 and A101. Transfer Credit: CSU.

Heating & Air Conditioning A103- Air Conditioning Serv (3)
Operation, maintenance, diagnosis and repair of air conditioning systems and their components for proper function. This course may be taken two times. PREREQUISITE: Heating and A/C A100 and A101. ADVISORY: Heating and A/C A105. Transfer Credit: CSU.

Heating & Air Conditioning A104- Air Balance (3)
Operation and maintenance of air conditioning and heating ducts and their controls; various methods of distribution and the means to deliver proper air flow. This course may be taken two times. PREREQUISITE: Heating and A/C A100 and A101. ADVISORY: Heating and A/C A103 and A105. Transfer Credit: CSU.

Heating & Air Conditioning A105- Air Cond & Refrig Controls (3)
Controls used in the Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration that include temperature, pressure, overload and safety controls. This course may be taken two times. PREREQUISITE: Heating and A/C A100 and A101. Transfer Credit: CSU.

Heating & Air Conditioning A106- Non-Res Applications for HVAC (3)
Fundamentals of operation, maintenance, and trouble shooting of non-residential equipment and systems. Topics include but are not limited to chillers, centrifugal, reciprocal, absorption, and other current systems. This course may be taken two times. PREREQUISITE: Heating and A/C A100 and A101. Transfer Credit: CSU.

Heating & Air Conditioning A110- Pneumatic Controls 1 (3)
Students will operate, maintain, diagnose and repair basic pneumatic controls from installation to service requirements. This course may be taken two times. May be taken for grades or on a pass-no pass basis. PREREQUISITE: Heating and A/C A100 and A101. Transfer Credit: CSU.

Heating & Air Conditioning A140- Building Automation (3)
Fundamental applications and design of building automation systems for HVACR. This course may be taken two times. PREREQUISITE: Heating and A/C A100 and A101. Transfer Credit: CSU.
