Dietetic Technician
Transfer Courses

All courses numbered 100 or higher are transferable to the California State Universities (CSU). Courses that are transferable to the University of California are designated 'UC.' Some of these courses have limits on the amount of credit that is granted. See the UC Transferable Course List available in the Counseling Center or Transfer Center for these limitations. Courses that are non-credit or not AA degree applicable are designated with the letter 'N' preceding the course number. Identification of courses that have been accepted into the California Articulation Number (CAN) system appears after the course title.

NUTRITION CARE

Nutrition Care A100- Careers-Dietetics/FDSCI (1)
Career opportunities in the fields of dietetics and food science are explored. Guest speakers and field trips to nutrition services in health care and community agencies and food manufacturing plants are included. Same as Food and Nutrition A100. Students completing Nutrition Care A100 may not receive credit for Food and Nutrition A100.

Nutrition Care A175- Hlth Care Fld Exper (3)
Importance and scope of providing food and nutritional services in health care or community facilities to include clinical experience. Team concept approach and public relations will be emphasized. Students will be required to follow dress standards set by the facility in which they are working. TB CLEARNACE REQUIRED

Nutrition Care A180- Intro Medi Nutr Therapy (3)
Principles of nutrition as they relate to special physical conditions. Routine hospital diets will be studied.

Nutrition Care A280- Inter Nutrition Care (2)
Nutrition education principles and techniques for individual, family, and small group instruction in normal and preventive nutrition care. Consideration is given to community and cultural influences on nutrition. PREREQUISITE: Nutrition Care A180

Nutrition Care A281- Supervised Practice 1 (3)
Supervised clinical experience in community agencies/facilities dealing with the nutritional aspects of health care. PREREQUISITE: Nutrition Care A280

Nutrition Care A285- Advanced Nutrition Care (2)
Advanced application of knowledge and skills related to food service management and the nutrition care process in preparation for entry-level practice as dietetic technicians in health care facilities. PREREQUISITE: Nutrition Care A281; CO-REQUISITE: Nutrition Care A286. Transfer Credit: CSU.

Nutrition Care A286- Supervised Practice 2 (3)
Supervised experience in institutional health care facilities dealing with the nutritional care of people. PREREQUISITE: Nutrition Care A285
