Dropping Classes
If you elect to drop a class, you may do so up until the deadline for the last day to withdraw. Courses have different deadlines depending on the course start and ending date. You can verify the deadlines by checking your Student Class Program (via the student tab on your MyOCC portal), in the printed class schedule, or on the Deadlines and Dates to Remember website. You can also call the Answer Center at (714) 432-5072 during normal business hours to confirm your deadline.
It is always the student's responsibility to officially drop through MyOCC or the Enrollment Center if he/she wishes to drop a class. Although instructors may request that a student be dropped for absences, it is NOT the instructor's responsibility. Students who never attend a class or stop attending a class at any time, MUST officially drop themselves, according to stated deadlines. It is also the student's responsibility to verify their withdrawal from a class by the stated deadlines to avoid a "W" and/or a grade in the class.
You may drop a class as follows:
1. Log in to your MyOCC portal page. Select the "Add or Drop Classes" option in the Registration Tools box under the Student tab, select the course/s you want to drop and then click the submit button. Make sure that you verify your transaction. You can verify that you have been dropped by clicking on the Student Class Program (Web Schedule Bill). It's recommended that you print a copy of this for your records.
OR
2. Mailing a Student Withdrawal Form or letter (postmarked by US Postmaster) by the deadline date to Orange Coast College, PO Box 5005, Costa Mesa, CA 92628-5005, Attn: Registration. You may want to send your request via certified mail to ensure that it is postmarked by the deadline date.
