WELCOME TO PIRATES FOOTBALL

In the midst of its seventh decade of action, the Orange Coast College football program continues to not only produce winning teams on the field, but successful individuals off the field.

Playing in one of the toughest conferences in the state, the Pirates look to once again be right in the thick of things this year in the Mission Conference's American Division.

For athletes not familiar with Orange Coast, the college is located just minutes from the beach and with the new FieldTurf playing surface at LeBard Stadium, the facility is ranked among the best in the state. "The new and improved LeBard Stadium with its FieldTurf surface is a dream to practice and play on," OCC head coach Mike Taylor said. "It's user-friendly surface is great for training and its markings make every practice gamelike. Many have said on seeing OCC's facilities, 'They are the best in Southern California.'"

Starting back in 1948, the Pirates have established a winning tradition, winning several conference titles as well as a pair of national championships (1963 and 1975).

Throughout the years, the Pirates have had several athletes earn J.C. All-American honors and many four-year colleges and universities know that OCC continues to produce some of the finest athletes around.

The Pirates open the 2007 season at Citrus College on Saturday, Sept. 1, beginning at 7 p.m. Their home opener takes place on Sept. 8 against Santa Monica.

Hope to see you there!!
