OCC holds a 14-3-1 all-time series record against the Griffins dating back to 1962. The last time these two teams played was 1993 and the Pirates prevailed, 37-20. Coast has won seven of the past eight meetings between the two schools. |

However, unlike Wednesday, it was the Pirates who came out victorious with a 16-13 comeback win before an impressive crowd of over 3,000 at LeBard Stadium, keeping the "Victory Bell" trophy in Costa Mesa for the second straight year.

After pulling to within one on a Kevin Ah-Hi touchdown run in the second overtime, the Pirates skipped the extra point and won the game on a successful 2-point attempt from quarterback Chris Debowski to receiver Nathan Barnett to give the Pirates a stunning 35-34 double-overtime win over the Fullerton Hornets at LeBard Stadium.
