COSTA MESA - There must be something in Cypress' halftime water jug that jump-starts their game to a new level. Just ask Orange Coast College. For the second straight encounter, the Chargers turned a 1-0 halftime lead into a blowout win. On Tuesday, Cypress scored five second-half goals to cruise past the host Pirates, 6-0, in Orange Empire Conference action. In their first meeting, the Chargers prevailed 5-0 in Cypress with four second-half goals. Diana Gallegos had two goals and an assist for the Chargers (16-1-2, 9-1-2), who were coming off a shocking 2-1 loss to Santa Ana last Friday. Single goals were scored by Cassie McKay, Tiffany Craig, Nydia Hurdado and Brittney Elder. The Pirates (10-6-2, 7-4-1) had flashes of solid play, but they could not get a ball past goalkeeper Kassandra Imbrogno, who finished with four saves. OCC's netminder, Katie Johnson, posted eight saves. OCC will try to return to the win column on Friday when they play at Irvine Valley, beginning at 3 p.m.
