COSTA MESA - The Orange Coast College men's and women's soccer teams have earned an invitation to the first round of the Southern California Regionals.
The men's soccer team, seeded ninth in the 12-team regionals, will travel to El Camino to face the No. 8 seed Warriors on Saturday, beginning at 12:30 p.m. The first four seeds earned a first-round bye. The Pirates (9-7-6) and Warriors (15-7-2) did not face each other this season.
On the women's side, the 13th seeded Pirates (13-7-1) will play at fourth-seeded Ventura (18-2-1) on Saturday, beginning at 6 p.m.
It will be OCC's second trip to Ventura. Back on Sept. 1, the OCC Pirates fell to the Ventura Pirates 4-2 in the second game of Coast's season. On the positive side of that loss, OCC was just one of three teams to score more than one goal against Ventura this year. Santa Barbara and L.A. Pierce were the other two multi-goal-scoring schools.
