Men's tennis tops Marymount, Southwestern to go 3-0

COSTA MESA - With wins this week against Marymount, 9-0 and Southwestern, 5-4, the Orange Coast College men's tennis team is off to a 3-0 start.
In Tuesday's win over Marymount, the Pirates lost just six games total all afternoon as four singles players -- Jon Kroopf, Andy Ong, David Stacy and Ary Modyman -- all won their matches, 6-0, 6-0. Ong and Charlie Nguyen also swept 8-0 in doubles play.
In Thursday's win over Southwestern, it was doubles that proved to be the difference as the Pirates' squads went a perfect 3-0. The team of Stacy and Nguyen had to hang on and win a tiebreaker 10-8 to earn the 8-7 win.
Ong and Kevin Koredestani won their doubles match 8-0, while Kroopf and Pat Lam took care of business, 8-5.
Nguyen (6-1, 6-0) and Kordestani (6-1, 6-2) each posted singles' wins as well.
OCC will return to action on Thursday, Feb. 15 at Palomar, beginning at 2 p.m.
