COSTA MESA - Thanks to success both on and off the playing field, several Orange Coast College football players are set to continue their athletic and academic careers at the four-year level.
According to head coach Mike Taylor, five Pirates -- receiver Damola Adeniji (Oregon State), safety Chris Assily (San Jose State), quarterback Kekoa Crowell (Montana Western), kicker Brock Jaramillo (Southern Mississippi) and defensive back Andrew Fuller (Portland State) -- have all committed to their four-year schools, while center Luke Sapolu (San Jose State), receiver George Raco (Hawaii) and receiver A.J. Moskus (Southern Oregon) are gearing toward walking on to the respective schools.
Adeniji (6-foot-4, 215 pounds), earned second-team, All-Mission Conference honors with 34 receptions for 502 yards and eight touchdowns.
Assily (6-1, 210) notched 56 tackles and four interceptions, which tied for the team lead. In addition to his defensive work, the first-team, All-Mission Conference and all-state selection returned punts and kickoffs.
Crowell (6-1, 180) completed 108 of 213 passes for 1,336 yards and 14 touchdowns before hurting his arm in the regular-season finale against Golden West.
Jaramillo (5-8, 175) was 8-of-15 on field-goal attempts and 27-of-30 on extra points for the Pirates, including a game-winning 45-yard FG in the final seconds against Riverside.
Fuller (6-2, 215) garnered 28 tackles (15 solo) and recovered one fumble to help lead OCC's defense.
