Track and Field: Pirates demolish Saddleback

MISSION VIEJO - The Orange Coast College men's and women's track teams, ran circles around the Saddleback Gauchos on Friday in dual-meet action.
The OCC men posted a 126-15 win over the Gauchos, while on the women's side, the Pirates won 100-34.
Double-winners for the Pirate men include Josh Strickland who won the 100-meter dash (11.08) and the 200 (22.56), Jesse Ramirez in the 800 (1:59.82) and the 1,500 (4:12.54) and Kyle Peterson in the 110 high hurdles (16.6) and the high jump (6 feet, 2 inches).
Single wins went to Justin Parga in the 400 (51.06), Brandon Babiracki in the 3,000 (8:56.96), Chris Pfeifer in the 400 hurdles (57.93), Trevor Schuesler in the pole vault (14-0), Chris Macke in the long jump (21-5 1/2), Clint Parga in the triple jump (41-4 1/4), Keneti Faggata in the shot put (47-4 3/4), Andres Rossini in the discus (137-3 1/2), Chris Burbach in the javelin (191-7 1/2).
In the relays, the 400 relay foursome of Parga, Strickland, Brian Bennett and Johnnie McIntyre won with a time of 43.69. The 1,600 foursome of Parga, Pfeifer, Bennett and Erik Donohue posted a winning time of 3:29.03.
On the women's side, double-winners came from Madison Empting in the 100 (13.67) and 200 (28.06), Erendira Uriostegui in the 800 (2:45.74) and 3,000 (10:57.92) and Brenda Finney in the 100 hurdles (16.83) and high jump (4-6).
Single winners included Ashley Rodriguez in the 400 (1:02.86), Melinda Rackliffe in the 1,500 (5:01.17), Hester Chang in the discus (83-10) and Brittany Ickes in the javelin (101-10).
In the relay events, OCC's 400 relay quartet of Empting, Tirza Mejia, Finney and Jade LeBlanc) crossed the finish line with a winning time of 53.04. In the 1,600 relay, Rodriguez, Finney, Empting and Uriostegui won with a time of 4:18.44.
The Pirates will once again take to the track on March 9-10 at the Ben Brown Invitational, held at Cal State Fullerton, beginning at 3 p.m.
