Track & Field: Peterson wins OEC decathlon

CERRITOS - Orange Coast College track and field standout Kyle Peterson took home the Orange Empire Conferece decathlon title at Tuesday's SoCal Championships, held at Cerritos College.
 
His 5,956 points was second-best overall behind Mt. San Antonio's Easton Harris' 6,070 points, but his point total was tops among OEC participants, earning him the title.
 
Teammate George Prior placed third in conference (6th at the meet) with 5,469 points, while Danny Moore took sixth (18th at the meet) with 4,275.
 
On the women's side, Brenda Finney took second in conference (fourth overall) in the heptathlon with 3,815, just behind Fullerton's Joy Saleapaga's 3,877.
 
All three Pirates earned a spot in the State Meet by finishing in the top-six in the event.
