Women's Tennis: Pirates qualify three singles, two doubles for regionals

COSTA MESA - Day 1 of the Orange Empire Conference Women's Tennis Championships provided little drama in terms of top-seeded upsets, but still had plenty of excitement to go around.
In singles, seven of the top eight seeds have advanced to the quarterfinals and a berth to the Southern California Regionals on May 3 in Victor Valley. The lone upset came by Orange Coast's Heather Morton, who topped No. 6 seed Tiffany Cheng of Fullerton, 6-1, 6-3 in the second round.
In doubles three of the four top seeds are still alive and well in the third round, while the No. 2 seed team of Jaleh Mazaheri and Morton will have to wait until Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. to play their match as darkness prevented them to begin.
Among the Pirates who have qualified for regionals include Morton, Evelyn Wallace and Mazaheri in singles and K.D. Doran and Wallace in doubles.
Listed below are the results from Tuesday's competition. The OEC Championships will continue on Thursday and Friday.
