Women's Tennis: Top seeds dominate second day of OEC championships

COSTA MESA - It was status quo during Day 2 of the Orange Empire Conference Women's Tennis Championships as top seeds continued their trek towards the finals.
In singles, OCC's Jaleh Mazaheri earned a spot in the semifinals by topping Santa Ana's Lisa Havich, 6-3, 6-2. She will take on Erina Hung of Saddleback after she won her quarterfinal match with OCC's Heather Morton, 6-1, 6-0.
In the other semifinal, it will be No. 1 seed Anabel Sanchez of Riverside against fourth-seed Natali Cespedes of Irvine Valley. Sanchez swept past OCC's Evelyn Wallace, 6-1, 6-1 in one quarterfinal, while Cespedes needed three games to get past Saddleback's Kathy Dennis, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles, one finals matchup has been decided as Saddleback's Hung and Dennis prevailed 6-2, 6-1 over Riverside's Sanchez and Krista Aja.
In the other doubles' semifinals, the matchup between OCC's Mazaheri-Morton and Saddleback's Nisa Meineke and Andrea Warren was stopped due to darkness early in the third set. They will pick up their match on Friday before taking on Hung and Dennis, weather permitting.
