Women's Cross Country: Pirates fare well in season opener

BREA -- There were plenty of Orange Coast College runners near the top of the pack at the Cal State Fullerton Season Opener, held at Carbon Canyon Park.
Running against some of the top two-year and four-year runners in the area, the Pirates finished second overall with a team score of 75.
Leading the way for the Pirates was Crystal Reed, who finished fifth overall with a 5K time of 18 minutes, 27.8 seconds. Also finishing in the top-20 was teammate Cassie Mitchell, who came in with a 17th place time of 19:47.7.
Top-50 finishes for the Pirates include Senayt Asrat (28th, 20:16.3) and Ariana Espinoza (36th, 20:38.7).
Rounding out the Pirates' places and times include Elena Lopez (51st, 21:26.0), Jillian Lopez (52nd, 21:26.6), Joanna Abarca (55th, 21:31.2), Tiffany Hanna (56th, 21:44.7), Claire Fleming (63rd, 22:35.7), Natalie Rodriguez (65th, 22:40.0), Heather Cannioto (68th, 22:58.2), Adalid Camanos (70th, 23:06.0), Alyssa Carchia (72nd, 23:23.2), Jessica Ramsieir (74th, 24:16.3), Samantha Turner (77th, 24:47.6).
OCC will compete again on Friday at the Orange Empire Conference Preview Meet, beginning at 9 a.m.
