COSTA MESA - Thanks to an early goal and a couple of key first-half saves, the Orange Coast College men's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to six games with a 2-0 nonconference win over visiting L.A. Harbor on Tuesday.
The Pirates (4-1-2), who have not lost since their season opener against Rio Hondo, took the lead for good in the game's eighth minute when Jordan Joseph took a feed from John Shinjo, made a nice move around the Seahawks' charging goalkeeper and slid a shot into the lower-left corner of the goal.
OCC goalkeeper Dane Fernandez made that lead hold up as he posted six saves, including two point-blank stops in the first half to preserve the Pirates' advantage.
Off a free kick in the 78th minute, Eddie Garcia found the back of the net with a well-placed shot over L.A. Harbor's defensive wall and into the upper-right corner of the goal to complete the scoring.
Logan Adams had six saves for L.A. Harbor (4-2-2).
OCC returns to action on Friday at Mt. San Antonio, beginning at 2 p.m.
