Women's Cross Country - Pirates win Titan CC Invitational

FULLERTON - Running against some of the top four-year runners in the state, the Orange Coast College women's cross country team more than held its own, winning the 2007 Titan Cross Country Invitational with a team score of 55 points.
Finishing behind the Pirates included the University of Southern California (62 points), Cal State Fullerton (69), UC Riverside (73), UC Irvine (138), Cal State Northridge (140), Cal State Bakersfield (141) and Long Beach State (213).
Cassie Mitchell posted the top time for OCC, finishing eighth overall (second among the teams competing) with a 5K time of 18 minutes, 42 seconds. Crystal Reed wasn't too far behind, placing 12th (fifth in team results) with a time of 18:57.
Rounding out the top-five for the Pirates include Ariana Espinoza, (12th in team results, 19:22), Tiffany Hannah (13th, 19:35) and Senayt Asrat (23rd, 19:57).
Other OCC times include Jillian Lopez (20:07), Claire Fleming (20:36), Tali Sproat (20:52), Joanna Abarca (20:56), Elena Lopez (21:27), Heather Cannioto (21:36), Nataly Rodriguez (21:46), Alyssa Carchia (22:16), Adalid Camanos (23:04) and Jessica Ramseier (23:40).
The Pirates return to action on Friday at Craig Park in Brea for the Orange Empire Conference Championships, beginning at 9 a.m.
