IRVINE -- After two gruelling matches the past two days against Golden West and Santa Ana, the Orange Coast College men's soccer team had very little left in the gas tank as Irvine Valley posted a 3-0 Orange Empire Conference win on Wednesday.
The Pirates (7-8-4, 3-6-2 in conference) were outshot 16-3 in the contest. The two teams battled to a scoreless tie in the first round of OEC play.
OCC goalkeeper Dane Fernandez posted five saves, while IVC keeper Mikhail Radchuk notched one save.
Erik Van Der Meulen notched a pair of goals, while Darren Whitty added a lone tally for the Lasers (11-4-3, 5-2-3). Mark Shadrack, Jack Plummer and Radchuk each had assists in the game.
After a day off, the Pirates will be back at it again on Friday at Cypress, beginning at 3 p.m.
