COSTA MESA -- It looks like the 40th matchup between Orange Coast and Golden West will happen after all.
Following the approval from the Commission on Athletics, the Pirates and Rustlers have agreed to play their postponed football game on Friday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. at OCC's LeBard Stadium.
The COA Board approved the extension of the football season after a number of games were cancelled due to the fires. Teams that are not bowl eligible may make up their game prior to the Nov. 17 Bowl Weekend.
The Pirates (3-5, 1-2 in Mission Conference's American Division) and Rustlers (2-6, 0-3) have had a fierce rivalry since their series began back in 1966. GWC holds a 20-17-2 series lead and is the owner of the prized "Victory Bell" following last year's 20-13 win over the Pirates.
The game, originally scheduled for Oct. 27, was not played due to poor air quality as a result of the Southern California wildfires that blazed throughout the southland.
