Men's Basketball: Pirates fall to Irvine Valley

COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College men's basketball team watched the visiting Irvine Valley College Lasers scorch the nets as the Pirates fell 89-62 on Friday in Orange Empire Conference action.
First-place Irvine Valley (23-2, 7-0 in conference) shot a lights-out 62.7 percent from the floor (32-of-51) for the game as four players reached double-digit scoring. Kashif Watson led the way with 15 points, while Jeff Ledbetter added 14, Franklin Session chipped in 13 and Jason Toney contributed 12.
OCC (7-17, 2-5) was led by Shaun Engle with 14 points and four assists. Brian Helmuth added 11 points and five rebounds.
The Pirates return to action on Wednesday at Cypress, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
