Women's Basketball: Pirates roll past Rustlers

COSTA MESA -- Courtney Ford definitely made the most of the time she spent on the floor on Wednesday night.
The sophomore standout scored 29 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out four assists in 21 minutes of playing time to lead the Pirates past Golden West, 87-53.
Erin Barney added 12 points and eight rebounds, while Natasha Cargill added 10 points for the Pirates (26-3, 10-1 in conference).
Monica Chavez led the Rustlers (7-19, 1-10) with 21 points, while Michelle Torres added 16 points and 13 rebounds.
OCC took control of the game early, turning an 8-7 score into a 32-9 lead, thanks to a 24-2 run. The Pirates led 50-21 at the break and never looked back.
Sophomore point guard Rachael Maulit added seven more assists to her totals, bringing her to 412 for her career. She's just 42 behind the school's all-time mark of 454, held by Flo Luppani, set back in 1993-95.
OCC travels to Riverside to take on the Tigers this Friday night, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
