Women's Basketball: Ford repeats as OEC MVP, three others All-OEC

Following the first back-to-back conference championships in school history, four players from the Orange Coast College women's basketball team earned a spot on the All-Orange Empire Conference Team.

Sophomore guard/forward Courtney Ford once again topped the list as the conference's Most Valuable Player, while three others -- Rachael Maulit, Katie Kissee and Brittany Taylor -- were named to the All-OEC squad.

It's been another spectacular season for Ford (pictured left), whose 739 points is second in the state and her 23.1 points-per-game average is fourth-best in all of California. Ford is also averaging 9.9 rebounds per game (19th in the state), four assists and three steals per game.

Maulit (pictured right) joins Ford as a two-time member of the All-OEC team, following another strong season as the Pirates' point guard. Her 225 assists are second in the state, as is her 7.0 assists-per-game average. She also led the Pirates in steals (107) and steals per game (3.34).

Kissee (pictured left) was a solid offensive contributor for the Pirates, averaging 10.9 points per game (11.3 in conference) and led OCC with 3-pointers made (52) and free-throw shooting (81.4 percent).

Taylor (pictured right) overcame several nagging injuries to perform well for Coast, averaging 7.7 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.

Head coach Mike Thornton was named as the conference's Coach of the Year for the second straight year as well.
