Swimming: Pirates control things against Golden West

HUNTINGTON BEACH -- The Orange Coast College men's and women's swim teams controlled things from the opening event and topped host Golden West in a dual meet. The OCC women defeated the Rustlers, 209-29, while the Pirate men prevailed, 138-84.
 
First-place performances for the OCC women include Keeley McCormick in the 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes, 33.63 seconds) and 100 butterfly (1:10.82), Tiffany Libman in the 50 freestyle (25.72) and 100 freestyle (56.9), Shyra Crandall in the 100 backstroke (1:07.09) and 50 backstroke (31.9), Ashlee Gray in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.96), Brittany Reese in the 200 freestyle (2:07.14), Maile Johnson in the 50 butterfly (29.65), Jamie Krispel in the 500 freestyle (5:36.62) and the 50 breaststroke (33.35) and the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay (1:46.5).
 
On the men's side, OCC winners include the 400 medley relay (3:50.43), Greg Hulse in the 50 free (21.78), Elden Carpenter in the 200 IM (2:05.61), Nick Tossey in the 200 butterfly (2:10.27), Aaron Hoff in the 200 backstroke (2:10.03), Chase Secrest in the 200 breaststroke (2:20.06) and the 400 free relay foursome of Hulse, Carpenter, Joe Krone and Chase Olswang (3:20.34).
 
Next up for the Pirates will be the Pasadena Invitational, which will take place Thursday through Saturday..
