COSTA MESA -- Once again, the Orange Coast College women's tennis team has found itself on top of the Orange Empire Conference mountain-top, thanks to a freshman-heavy squad that has played near-perfect tennis this year.
The Pirates improved to 15-0 overall, 9-0 in the OEC with an 8-1 conference win over visiting Saddleback on Tuesday, cementing their name atop the conference standings the rest of the season.
Freshman standout Brittany Bass (pictured left) continued her undefeated play in singles with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Saddleback's Rylee Stowell.
Other straight-set wins came from Evelyn Wallace (7-5, 7-6), Kalin Eshelman (6-0, 6-1) and Jasmine Mathieson (6-2, 6-3). Emily Garcia needed three sets, but prevailed, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.
In doubles, it was a clean sweep for the Pirates as Bass and Brittnie Furuvald posted an 8-3 win, Wallace and Eshelman prevailed 8-5 and Garcia and Mathieson cruised to an 8-3 win.
OCC will wrap up the conference schedule on Thursday at home against Irvine Valley, beginning at 2 p.m.
